Not to be outdone by 'American Horror Story,' (its mostly direct and logical competition) IFC's comedy gem 'Portlandia' will be getting just a bit bigger for season 3, adding actress Chloe Sevigny into the mix with Fred and Carrie. Sevigny was also cast in a recurring role for 'American Horror Story' season 2, so what brings the actress over to the comedy side of things? And how long will she be sticking around before things get weird...er?

Entertainment Weekly announced that Oscar-winning 'Big Love' star and upcoming 'American Horror Story' guest Chloe Sevigny will join the cast of 'Portlandia' when the show enters its third season. Joining the plethora of celebrity guests the series has hosted, Sevigny will play Alexandra, a fellow Portland resident who moves in with series stars Fred Armisen and Carrie Brownstein.

'Portlandia' season 3 won't open up shop until January of 2013, but Chloe Sevigny fans will have plenty to chew on this fall when the actress makes a guest turn as Shelly the Nymphomaniac for 'American Horror Story's second season, titled 'American Horror Story: Asylum.'

'Portlandia' season 3 will also feature 'Twin Peaks' actor Kyle MacLauchlan reprising his role as Mayor of the quirky Portland town, having appeared throughout the first two seasons.

What say you? Do you think Chloe Sevigny is eying a more permanent return to TV after the end of HBO's 'Big Love'? What are you hoping to see from 'Portlandia' season 3? Give us your take in the comments below!
