The 'Power Rangers' are ready to "go, go" onto the big screen once again. Twenty-one years after this team of super-powered, mighty morphin' "teenagers with attitude" debuted in the Saban TV series of the '90s, spawning a massive franchise with toys, games, movies and the like, they're now ready to return for a potentially franchise-starting film.

Lionsgate and Saban announced their partnership on a new live-action 'Power Rangers' movie, which will "re-envision the Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, a group of high school kids who are infused with unique and cool super powers but must harness and use those powers as a team if they have any hope of saving the world."

Said Saban of the announcement:

Lionsgate is the perfect home for elevating our Power Rangers brand to the next level. They have the vision, marketing prowess and incredible track record in launching breakthrough hits from 'The Hunger Games' to 'Twilight' and 'Divergent.' In partnership with the Lionsgate team, we're confident that we will capture the world of the Power Rangers and translate it into a unique and memorable motion picture phenomenon with a legacy all its own.

For those unfamiliar -- though, no child of the '90s should be -- the Power Rangers are a group of teenagers recruited by a alien being named Zordon, imbued with the ability to morph into super-powered defenders of Earth, and given gargantuan fighter robots called "zords" to exterminate the Godzilla-sized threats. Since the series began in 1993, it has since spun off into 'Power Rangers Zeo,' 'Power Rangers in Space,' 'Power Rangers Time Force,' and many others.

This wouldn't be the first time that 'Power Rangers' hit theaters: 20th Century Fox distributed 'Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers: The Movie' in 1995 (seeing the Rangers upgrade to ninja powers and zords) and 'Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie' in 1997 (which also helped kickstart the 'Power Rangers Turbo' generation of the series).
