Get Caught Up on PlayStation’s ‘Powers’ in a New Season 2 Preview
It’s safe to say that fans new and old of PlayStation’s Powers TV series could use a refresher on the first season ahead of its May 31 return, and Sony has just the thing. Meet the newest additions, good and bad, as the latest Powers Season 2 featurette recaps both the story so far, and what dangers lie ahead for the new episodes.
In addition to the five-minute retrospective and Season 2 preview above, Powers has also released a destructive new poster teasing the comic-adapted series’ return:
The second season of Powers will make the first three episodes available on May 31, free to PlayStation Plus members, beginning 12:01 P.M. PT. Subsequent episodes will debut each week, while the Season 2 synopsis reads:
Powers, an edgy dramatic series inspired by the graphic novel series of the same name, follows the lives of two homicide detectives, Christian Walker (Sharlto Copley) and Deena Pilgrim (Susan Heyward), who are assigned to investigate cases involving people with extraordinary abilities, referred to as “Powers.”
Set amidst today’s paparazzi culture, Powers asks the questions, what if the world was full of superheroes who aren’t actually heroic at all? What if all that power was just one more excuse for mischief, mayhem, murder, and endorsement deals?
The new season will delve into the storyline made famous by the first comic “Who Killed Retro Girl?” as the Powers Division investigates the shocking murder of the world famous superhero (played by Michelle Forbes) and the mysteries that her death uncovers.
In addition to casting Michael Madsen’s “Super Shock” and Tricia Helfer’s Agent Lange, Falling Skies alum Remi Aubuchon took up showrunning duties for the new season fulltime, while Ben Edlund (Supernatural, Angel, Firefly and creator of The Tick) joined the writing staff.
