If you're thinking Reese Witherspoon is going to become a bearded lady based on that headline, we regret to inform you that isn't the case. The actress will star in and produce 'The Beard,' which refers to that other kind of beard.

According to THR, Reese Witherspoon has been cast in and will produce the romantic comedy 'The Beard' with Peter Chernin and Chernin Entertainment. A "beard" refers to someone who poses as the significant other or spouse of a gay person to help them conceal their homosexuality. So it's kind of the same thing that your weird uncle has on his face. Kind of.

No plot details have been released, but we're sure it's like Witherspoon is a beard-for-hire who falls in love with someone who she isn't bearding and they all end up learning valuable life lessons about being yourself and honesty and there are plenty of adult contemporary pop songs to tell you how the characters are feeling in every scene. And also: shoes.

The script is the first feature project for scribe Becca Greene, who formerly worked on the MTV animated series 'Good Vibes,' starring Adam Brody and Josh Gad and created by David Gordon Green.

Witherspoon is currently shooting 'The Devil's Knot' with Colin Firth, directed by Atom Egoyan and based on the true story of the West Memphis Three, three young men who were wrongly convicted of murdering three little boys in Arkansas.
