Here’s something interesting.  Behind-the-scenes images from this summer’s ‘Men In Black 3,’ teasing make-up legend Rick Baker and some of his extraterrestrial creations for the sequel, have just popped up online. It reminds us that while Will Smith is the celebrity machine that powers this 15-year-old franchise, many ticket buyers show up to see the bizarre alien monsters created by Baker, a “celebrity” in his own right.

It’s also interesting because Baker has been candid in the past about the messy pre-production schedule of Barry Sonnenfeld’s sequel, stating to Empire Magazine, “It was a crazy production. We had a writer actually on the soundstage writing the words moments before the guys had to say them. I don't think that's any way to make a movie. But I've seen a rough cut and I was actually shocked at how good it was."

There were rumors that some of Baker’s effects had to be scrapped to contend with those rewrites, but I’m guessing what we see in the images below (courtesy StarkIndustries.ru) will make their way into the finished product (though they might just surf by in the background at MIB headquarters, as has happened in the previous two films).

Baker, however, isn’t credited on the IMDB page for ‘Men In Black 3.’ Now that’s strange. These photos prove he worked on the production. But did they shift so far away from his alien designs that he asked to have his name removed? Is it just an oversight? Curious.

Smith, Tommy Lee Jones and Josh Brolin team for ‘MIB3,’ which reaches theaters on May 25. It sends Smith’s Agent J back to the 1960s, where he tries to figure out what mysterious issue if troubling his longtime partner, K (Jones). It co-stars Alice Eve, Emma Thompson, Bill Hader, Jemaine Clement (who you can see below with the long hair and black circles over his eyes), Lady Gaga and – we hope – Baker’s brilliant creations.
