Another exciting project has popped up on Kickstarter! This time, we've got River City Ransom: Underground, a sequel to the classic River City Ransom beat 'em up.

Conatus Creative is promising to bring us an officially-licensed sequel to the Nintendo Entertainment System-era role-playing beat 'em up, starring all new characters but featuring all of the familiar sights and sounds.

Underground is described as a "2.5D open world beat'em up with RPG elements" for PC. The settings will be modernized with more stores, items and characters. You'll hook up with friends to engage in local or online co-op in order to take on hordes of bad guys, using an advanced set of fighting moves. Just a look at the campaign video and the brief gameplay is enough to get fans of old-school games excited.

The campaign's goal is $180,000 CAD, which is approximately $174,000 USD. As of this writing, $32,654 CAD (US $31,610), has been pledged, with 27 days to go.

If you think the project is cool and would like to help fund it, check out the campaign page on Kickstarter and offer up your cash in return for classic beat 'em up action.
