The jinxed story of Robert Durst doesn’t lend itself to a second season the way Netflix’s Making a Murderer or even Serial might, but Durst himself has been grounds for belching parody for decades. Now, Lifetime will take The Jinx story in a semi-serious route, developing an original movie based on the decades-long saga of Durst’s mysterious deaths.

Per Deadline, Lifetime’s take on the distinctive killer (currently serving time for weapons’ posession) will draw from Matt Birkbeck book A Deadly Secret: The Bizarre and Chilling Story of Robert Durst. Emmy-nominated Bessie writer Bettina Gilois will handle the script, with Linda Berman producing.

For those unfamiliar with the case, the film will follow Durst from the vantage point of his wife Kathy, who disappeared in New York in 1982. Durst himself has long been suspected of her disappearance (a body has never been found), as well the murder of his close friend Susan Berman years later.

There’s ample talent to fill the role of a younger Robert Durst (our vote goes to Fred Armisen, or at least Kate McKinnon), but watch The Jinx trailer below, and stay tuned for the latest.
