It's been five years since Eli Roth's 'Hostel: Part II' hit the screen, which is a mighty long absence for an up and coming director. That's not to say he hasn't kept busy, with such projects as a lead role in Quentin Tarantino's 'Inglourious Basterds' and co-writing 'The Man with the Iron Fists,' which stars Russell Crowe. Crowe and Roth may work together again with 'Harker.'

Currently Crowe is attached to star, while Eli Roth is in talks to direct 'Harker,' according to Deadline Hollywood. This is being set up at Warner Brothers, who've been on the project for over a year now, so that likely means they thinks it's a good franchise. The lead would be the currently uncast Jonathan Harker in this re-imagining of the Dracula story, with Harker a Scotland Yard detective chasing after the vampire. Crowe would play Dracula, which has always been a juicy role for an actor.

Warner Brothers is a good home for the material, and Roth needs to do something mainstream at this point. He's been talking up his cannibal movie 'The Green Inferno,' but at this point taking a franchise studio gig is likely his best best chance to get something going again.
