Five words: Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone, musical. Still not sold? Throw in Damien Chazelle, one of 2015's most talked about filmmakers and the guy behind Whiplash. Excited yet?

The Crazy, Stupid, Love co-stars are reuniting for Chazelle’s next film La La Land, a musical set in present-day Los Angeles. A new photo exclusive to Entertainment Weekly shows Gosling’s musician and Stone’s actress who use dance to tell their love story in this drama about artists. Just look at their arms gleefully tossed up in the air, those feet giddily kicked back saying, “Look how much fun we’re having in front of this crazy gorgeous L.A. sunset!” From the looks of their swag, this romance musical will have a little bit for everyone. Fans of Gosling and Stone will have a lot to enjoy, and musical lovers who grew up with Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers, inspirations for the film, also have something to look forward to.

After the bloody intensity that was Whiplash, Chazelle seems to be taking a lighter course with La La Land, which he calls “less angry.” “There’s an incredible romanticism in L.A. that you don’t always see when you’re stuck in traffic on the 405,” Chazelle told EW of the film. “I wanted to make a big love letter to the city and focus on that push and pull that all young artists experience, between dreams and reality, which old Hollywood musicals are so good at expressing. I just love the idea of a whole emotional arc told purely visually and musically. And it’s a city that’s so filled with dreamers, most of whom won’t make it. I think there’s something poetic about that.” Maybe Chazelle could get Gosling and Stone to do some spontaneous freeway dancing to promote the film and make traffic a little more bearable. La La Land, which also co-stars J.K. Simmons, opens July 15, 2016.
