Based on the graphic novel series by Bryan Lee O'Malley, Edgar Wright's adaptation of 'Scott Pilgrim' stops following the original plot so closely somewhere around book four, which was as far as O'Malley had gotten when Wright began working on the film. The pair still worked together to create a film that is faithful in tone, if not entirely faithful in plot — and it's kind of amazing for fans of both the book and movie. At the end of the film, Gideon kills Scott and Scott comes back thanks to an extra life he acquired earlier. He defeats Gideon and becomes pals with Nega Scott, and lives happily ever after with Ramona while remaining friends with Knives. In the alternate version, much is the same, but Ramona and Scott decide to go their separate ways as it's clear that Scott and Knives are better suited for one another. It's not a bad alternate ending, but it's not the ending fans would have wanted to see.
