Rumors about a Scribblenauts game starring DC Comics characters made the rounds earlier this year, but WB Interactive and 5th Cell made it official this week. Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure will be out later this year, and will feature a cast of thousands of DC heroes and villains.

The first trailer for Scribblenauts Unmasked is packed with characters, locales, and abilities we're used to seeing from our favorite DC heroes. What's always made Scribblenauts so appealing is the ability to do and create anything you can imagine, and that looks to be no different with this entry. Not only can you summon your favorite iconic characters, but there are dozens upon dozens of different versions to find and create too.

It will be interesting to see how the puzzles play out with all the different super powers you'll have at your disposal, but with villains like Doomsday, the Joker, and Darkseid standing in your way, it can't hurt to have a little extra muscle. The DC Universe translates wonderfully to the Scribblenauts art style, and it will be great to have another solid all-ages title available featuring those familiar faces.

Scribblenauts Unlimited will be out on the Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, and PC later this year. You can check out the first footage below, and let us know which obscure character you hope to see make it into the final game. Fingers crossed for Red Son Hal Jordan.
