I woke this morning to a variety of recaps of the new episode of Louie. My Twitter feed was full of references to some kind of amazing poop joke that Louis C.K. makes on the show this week. Who better, then, to star in a children’s film? They love poop jokes almost as much as they love fart jokes!

And star in a kids movie he shall, as The Hollywood Reporter says that C.K. will team with Kevin Hart for an upcoming animated film from Universal and Illumination. The movie, titled The Secret Life of Pets, will open in theaters on July 8, 2016, marking it as a pretty major release for the studio. Here’s the plot description:

The comedy centers on about the lives our pets lead after we leave for work or school each day.

Ah. I see. I guess Pet Story was a bit too on the nose, then. The Secret Life of Pets it is! (Also would you like to know the secret life of my pet? I will tell you. He sleeps all day on my bathmat. Thrilling!)

The voice cast also includes Albert Brooks, Jenny Slate, Ellie Kemper, Lake Bell, Bobby Moynihan, and Hannibal Buress, and the film is directed by Chris Renaud, the man behind the enormously popular Despicable Me franchise (the second film made almost $1 billion worldwide). Its big competition that weekend will be Star Trek 3, which does have spaceships and Klingons but (to my knowledge) no poop-joke-making dogs. Advantage: The Secret Life of Pets.
