Sega Game Gear Classics Headed to Nintendo 3DS Virtual Console

EDIT
|

More than a dozen new Game Gear games will be coming to the 3DS' Virtual Console very soon. Nintendo ran down the list of upcoming titles during its latest Nintendo Direct event.

Though Sega's Game Gear never experienced the success of any of Nintendo's portable systems, the retro games will live on thanks to the Nintendo 3DS. A handful of Game Gear titles are already available on the 3DS Virtual Console, but CEO Satoru Iwata announced a baker's dozen of new games that would be arriving in the coming months.

Columns was always a Sega fan-favorite, and even if it never reached the popularity of Tetris, it's still one hell of a puzzle game. Sonic's earliest games have been ported to consoles and handhelds ad nauseum, but you'll soon be able to find them again on the 3DS. You can check out the full list of upcoming games below. No definitive dates or prices were announced, but we'll be keeping our eyes out for more info as it arrives.
