One of the best things about award shows is how they honor those who are new to the industry and have showed enough talent that they have to award it. The 2012 MTV Movie Awards did just that tonight, giving the Best Breakthrough Performance award to 'The Descendants' star Shailene Woodley.

Throughout last year's award season Shailene Woodley was one of the breakout stars from the bunch, not only showing her wide range of talent but being able to hold her own on screen in 'The Descendants.' She starred alongside George Clooney in the comedic drama about an an estranged husband and father who tries to bond with his children after his wife is thrown into coma. The film was directed by Alexander Payne and received a number of awards and nominations. Shaliene Woodley got her hands on a few herself, including Best Supporting Actress at last year's Independent Spirit Awards.

During her 2012 MTV Movie Awards acceptance speech Shaliene Woodley thanked the people of Hawaii for being so cooperative while filming. She also thanked Fox Searchlight and the cast for her award. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone handed off the award to the young star amidst a marvelous 'Amazing Spider-Man' backdrop. We'll be sure to see this budding new actress appear in more movies to come.
