A while back, Sharon Stone revealed that she has a “wee part” in an upcoming Marvel film, though she (obviously) wasn’t at liberty to discuss further details. Based on her coy wording, we just assumed she might be playing Janet Van Dyne (aka the original Wasp) in Ant-Man and the Wasp, which would reunite Stone with her Basic Instinct co-star Michael Douglas. The actress has dropped another tiny clue about her mystery Marvel role, but it’s not exactly the most helpful hint. If anything, we’re more confused now than we were before.

Stone was part of a feature in AARP (of all places), which also included Alfre Woodard and Jane Fonda. The profile references Woodard’s part in Marvel’s upcoming Luke Cage series as well as Stone’s secret role in an unnamed Marvel film:

Meanwhile, Woodard and Stone are about to become very familiar to the highly sought-after comic-book-film crowd: Woodard’s character is a villain in Marvel’s anticipated Netflix series Luke Cage; Stone has been cast as a superhero — she’ll only reveal that her secret power is heat — in a yet-to-be-named movie, also for Marvel.

Her “secret power” is heat. There aren’t many notable female heroes in the Marvel universe that have the power of heat. There’s Sunpyre, but she’s associated with the X-Men — and she’s Asian. There’s also Nikki, a character that was briefly part of the Guardians of the Galaxy team and had the power to withstand heat and ultraviolet radiation.

I still think the most likely candidate would be Janet Van Dyne, and although Wasp doesn’t have any specific heat-centric powers, she does have a Wasp Sting that’s basically an energy blast — which is sort of similar to heat? Maybe? For now, we’ll wait for Sharon Stone to offer another confusing clue about her Marvel role. Perhaps next time she can reveal her character’s favorite meal.
