With the release of a new Marvel film comes an influx of Marvel news, and in addition to updates on Infinity War, Captain Marvel and that long-awaited Black Widow solo movie, we have a teensy bit of casting news. Sharon Stone says she’s signed on to appear in an upcoming MCU movie, and though she’s (obviously) not at liberty to reveal the film or her role in it, the actress’ choice of words may very well hold a clue.

Or not! You know, it might just be a coincidence. Via WBT, Stone appeared on The Late Late Show With James Corden (aka Carpool Karaoke and Sometimes Also Interviews With Famous People), where the actress announced that she’ll appear in an upcoming Marvel movie:

I am going to do a Marvel movie. I’m just doing a wee part in a Marvel movie, upcoming, and I can’t tell, because you know, you have to sign confidentiality agreements. But I’m going to do a wee part in a Marvel movie now. That’s it.

She says “wee part” not once, but twice, and maybe it’s nothing — maybe she’s fond of that particular adjective — or maybe it’s a not-so-sly clue. There’s only one Marvel hero who would be described as “wee,” and that’s Ant-Man. Who else is in Ant-Man? Stone’s pal and old Basic Instinct co-star Michael Douglas.

Just for fun, here’s my guess: Stone will appear in the sequel, Ant-Man and the Wasp, for which Douglas is set to reprise his role as Dr. Hank Pym. But who will she play? Janet, the mother of Evangeline Lilly’s Hope Van Dyne and the original Wasp, who — as we learned in the first film — became trapped in the Quantum Realm. In an interview with MTV last fall, director Peyton Reed said he wanted the sequel to be “weirder,” and that we could expect it to explore Janet’s history. While an actress had yet to be cast as Janet at the time, Reed said he had “definite ideas” about who should play her.

As to why Stone would be cast so early — it’s possible that we could see Janet appear in another upcoming Marvel film, perhaps alongside her husband and fellow scientist Hank in a flashback. Maybe in Spider-Man: Homecoming, since Peter Parker’s parents were CIA agents who could have encountered or worked with the couple at some point in time.

Ant-Man and the Wasp hits theaters on July 6, 2018.
