The well seems to have run pretty dry for new TV in 2015, so Showtime will step in to give its 2016 lineup an early jump. Not only will Shameless fans be able to catch the Season 6 premiere as early as New Years Day, and without a Showtime subscription at that, but so too will the network release high-powered finance drama Billions ahead of schedule.

Per Showtime’s official confirmation, both series will have their debut episodes available on January 1, between YouTube, Facebook, Showtime’s website, Hulu, Roku, PlayStation Vue, iTunes (as a video podcast) and individual TV on-demand outlets. Shameless had originally intended to debut its sixth season on January 10, with Billions following a week later on January 17.

So reads Showtime’s synopsis for Shameless Season 6:

Season six of Shameless picks up a few months after last year’s finale, leaving the Gallaghers to prepare for yet another long Chicago winter. This season will see more than just the arctic Lake Michigan winds whipping through the Southside. Change is hard and the Gallaghers are as surprised as anyone at how life is turning out for them. But the question remains, as they come into their own and find out who they are, is it really possible that the Gallaghers could grow apart for good?

Meanwhile, Showtime’s Billions will see Homeland and Band of Brothers star Damian Lewis in the role of the hedge fund king Bobby “Axe” Axelrod, going up against with politically savvy” U.S. Attorney Chuck Rhoades, as played by Paul Giamatti. Also present are Maggie Siff, Malin Akerman, Toby Leonard Moore, Breaking Bad alum David Costabile, and Condola Rashad.
