Zooey Deschanel, Natalie Portman and Anne Hathaway Set For ‘Simpsons’ Return
When it comes to the ladies, Bart Simpson clearly gets around, as evidenced by the smorgasbord of A-list actresses set to play Bart's assorted exes in an episode of 'The Simpsons' scheduled for early next season. Natalie Portman, Anne Hathaway, Sarah Michelle Gellar, Zooey Deschanel and Sarah Silverman will all reprise their respective roles in Bart's love life in "Moonshine River," set to air this fall.Consulting producer and "Moonshine River" writer, Tim Long explained the reasoning behind the parade of ghosts of girlfriend's past to EW, who originally broke the news.
“It was a way to acknowledge that for a 10-year-old boy, Bart has gotten a lot of action. We thought it might be fun to borrow/pay homage to/steal an idea from 'High Fidelity' and have him go on a romantic pilgrimage and visit all the girls that he dated and try to figure out how the hell he screwed things up with each of them… I don’t want to give away too much, but he realizes that maybe there’s something wrong with him after all.”
Revisiting a decades worth of exes is enough to make anyone begin to question their love life, as well as their sanity. While former flames Gina (Sarah Michelle Gellar), Darcy (Natalie Portman), Nikki (Sarah Silverman) and Jenny (Anne Hathaway) all make appearances in the episode, Bart realizes Cleetus' daughter, Mary (Zooey Deschanel) is the one that literally got away and heads off to New York to find his love.
