Put Jason Sudeikis and Alison Brie in a movie together, and we’re already sold, but the trailer for Sleeping With Other People gives us more of a reason to see it: aside from the excellent supporting cast, Brie and Sudeikis appear to have great chemistry as old high school pals who happen to bump into each other at a sex addicts meeting and swear they’ll remain “just friends.”

Obviously, these two are not going to be “just friends,” which the trailer makes very clear, but Sleeping With Other People looks funny and sweet, and far from ordinary. That’s probably because it was written and directed by Leslye Headland, who made her feature debut with 2012's darkly comic Bachelorette. If you loved that film, then you’re already pretty excited for her follow-up.

In addition to Sudeikis and Brie, the film features an awesome supporting cast including Natasha Lyonne, Adam Scott, Amanda Peet, Jason Mantzoukas and Adam Brody.

Can two serial cheaters get a second chance at love? After a one-night stand in college, New Yorkers Lainey (Alison Brie) and Jake (Jason Sudeikis) meet by chance twelve years later and discover they each have the same problem: because of their monogamy-challenged ways, neither can maintain a relationship. Determined to stay friends despite their mutual attraction, they make a pact to keep it platonic, a deal that proves easier said than done. Fresh, funny, and full of witty insights about modern love, this hilariously heartfelt film “is the rare rom-com that reminds us why we love them so much in the first place” (Time Out New York). Amanda Peet, Adam Scott, Natasha Lyonne, and Jason Mantzoukas co-star.

Sleeping With Other People hits theaters on August 21.
