NBC may have been busy today with some other big late-night news, but that will all fall by the wayside when 'Identity Thief' and 'Bridesmaids' star Melissa McCarthy returns to the 'SNL' stage for a second time, accompanied by musical guest Phoenix. McCarthy's performance earned praise the first time around despite some lackluster writing, so will lightning strike twice? Find out with the first promos for Melissa McCarthy's 'SNL' turn on April 6!

After a well-received double-dose of Justin Timberlake, 'SNL' will return with its first April episode this Saturday under returning host Melissa McCarthy, and musical guest Phoenix. The ‘Mike & Molly’ star had been revealed as an upcoming host sometime earlier, though NBC declined to make any official confirmation at the time.

Amid its flurry of 'Tonight Show' business today, NBC released the first promos for McCarthy's return, in which the 'Mike & Molly' star is typically game for anything even when the writing leaves a bit to be desired. Vince Vaughn will host the subsequent 'SNL' outing on April 13, but will McCarthy start off April right?

Check out the latest 'SNL' promos featuring Taran Killam and Melissa McCarthy below, and tell us if you'll tune in for this Saturday's outing with musical guest Phoenix in the comments!
