Seeing as you're on the Internet, you probably already know that Snooki is pregnant.  If not, take a moment to yourself, if you need one.

Back?  Now that you're done processing that bombshell, we've got a crisis to deal with. No, not what will become of Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi and fiance, Jionni LaValle's unborn and untanned baby, but what it means for MTV's already struggling, 'Jersey Shore.'

Now in its fifth season, 'Jersey Shore' isn't the ratings juggernaut it once was, though it still pulls respectable numbers for the network.  Of course, MTV has recognized the need to expand and grow the 'Shore' brand with spinoffs like a JWoww and Snooki-centered series as well as the upcoming 'Pauly D Project.'

The problem, however, is that pregnancy, alcohol and chain smoking don't mix. Does anyone really want to watch a sober Snooki?

The obvious solution (and opportunity) is for MTV to create a 'Newlyweds' style series for Snooki and her "juice-head guido guerilla" groom.  Though nothing's been announced, surely a deal is in the works.

But while Snooki may be set, where does this leave the rest of the 'Jersey Shore' crew?  There's been talk over the years of cycling in a new set of bronzed booze hounds to Seaside but MTV seems reluctant to mess with a good(?) thing.

And when it comes to the cast of 'Jersey Shore,' it appears the sum is greater than the whole of its parts.  Just look at the reception Mike "The Situation" Sorrentino received at Donald Trump's roast.

Casting more doubt on the future of the 'Shore' is Snooki's statement to US Weekly. "I have different priorities now. I don't care what anybody else thinks. As long as I know I'm ready and he's ready," the diminutive mom-to-be told the magazine.

Snooki's baby daddy, LaValle backed her up to that end, telling the magazine,"We are not going to screw this up."

Probably not what MTV execs were hoping to hear.
