When it comes to dueling Snow White stories, who’s the fairest of them all? Right now, it’s no contest. ‘Snow White and the Huntsman’ has defeated ‘Mirror Mirror’ as the can’t-miss fairy tale adaptation of 2012, thanks to spot-on casting and action-packed teasers like the latest full trailer that recently reached the web.

And so, while Tarsem Singh’s ‘Mirror’ opens in a few weeks (on March 30), I’m already looking past it to June, when Rupert Sanders unleashes his dark fantasy with Charlize Theron and Kristen Stewart as the Evil Queen and Snow White, respectively. Check out the latest trailer below:

Now that looks like a summer blockbuster. Everything about this looks fantastic, from the epic scope of the fantasy storytelling to the on-target casting of the leads. Theron, coming off her awards-worthy turn as a bitchy novelist in ‘Young Adult,’ continues to ooze chilly disdain as the Evil Queen, a despot disgusted by the knowledge that another fair maiden might exist in her realm. Stewart also rises to the challenge to play a more physical Snow White than Hollywood has ever attempted. And we haven’t even mentioned Chris Hemsworth, who – between this and his part as Thor in Joss Whedon’s ‘The Avengers’ – is about to have one hell of a summer movie season.

Now my questions is, “Who is Rupert Sanders?” Because this trailer suggests a vivid, thrilling, full-blown fantasy adventure, and IMDB claims this is his directorial debut.

Back when Hollywood announced plans for not one but two Snow White movies, I only wanted to crawl underneath a blanket and watch Disney’s animated classic. What could be better than that? Now, at the very least, ‘Huntsman’ looks like it is trying something completely different. Better? Maybe, but we’ll have to wait until June 1 to know for sure.
