We're still reeling a bit from this morning's announcement that not only would 'Spartacus' season 3 title itself 'Spartacus: War of the Damned' but that ultimately creator Steven S. DeKnight and Starz decided to make next season the show's last.  But as long as we have to say goodbye to such an excellent series and a stellar cast, why not hear it from the man himself?

No doubt looking to quell the fan outcries that Starz and series creator Steven S. DeKnight have decided to make 'Spartacus: War of the Damned' the final outing for the series, DeKnight has taken to the cameras to pacify his audience.  Promising that the "never-before-attempted" effort to wrap up 'Spartacus' epic story in just ten episodes will not only satisfy, DeKnight insists that ending the series will prove its best yet.

The decision still remains somewhat curious, given 'Spartacus' status as a tremendously high performer for Starz, having recently completed its most popular season to date.  Additionally, previous season "Vengeance" marked the debut of Liam McIntyre in the title role after Andy Whitfield's passing, which seemed to finally get the show on track to a regular production schedule.  Though DeKnight's words remain brief, hopefully there isn't any behind-the-scenes story prematurely cutting the excellent series short.

Listen to DeKnight explain the decision below, an then afterward catch the revised teaser for the final season, 'Spartacus: War of the Damned!"
