Recent reports that Logan Marshall-Green (aka Not Tom Hardy) had joined the cast of Spider-Man: Homecoming as secondary villain The Tinkerer may have been a bit hasty. It looks like Michael Keaton’s Vulture has found a new sidekick, as Orange Is the New Black star Michael Chernus has signed on to play Phineas Mason in Marvel and Sony’s highly-anticipated reboot.

Deadline makes no mention of the previous casting report or what may have happened to Logan Marshall-Green, who has apparently been replaced by Michael Chernus in Spider-Man: Homecoming. Chernus, who is best known for roles in Orange Is the New Black (as Piper’s endearingly free-spirited brother) and Captain Phillips, will play the role of Phineas Mason, aka The Tinkerer. His part is supplementary to Michael Keaton’s role as the primary villain, The Vulture.

After making his MCU debut in Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland will reprise his role as Peter Parker in the new reboot, leading a fantastic lineup that also includes Robert Downey Jr., Marisa Tomei, Martin Starr, Donald Glover, Zendaya, Tony Revolori, Hannibal Buress, Kenneth Choi, Bokeem Woodbine and The Nice Guys breakout Angourie Rice.

Jon Watts (Cop Car) is directing Spider-Man: Homecoming from a script by Vacation scribes John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein. The new reboot is currently in production and is set to hit theaters on July 7, 2017.
