‘Spy’ Stars Rose Byrne and Jason Statham are Total Goofballs in These New Featurettes
Spy is one of the funniest movies of the year, and even further proof of Paul Feig’s insane ability to make wonderful woman-centric comedies. The film is hitting DVD and Blu-ray soon, and two new featurettes have popped up online showing off two of the film’s key comedic ingredients: Rose Byrne and Jason Statham, the latter of whom took us by surprise and wound up being the funniest part of the whole movie.
The above featurette is a cute little gag reel in which Byrne cracks up and breaks character over and over and over again — and she’s so polite about it, which makes it even funnier. Byrne plays the villain of the film and foil to Melissa McCarthy’s CIA analyst Susan Cooper. Statham, meanwhile, plays a fellow CIA agent who refuses to back down and let McCarthy do her job. The actor is well-known for his action prowess, but audiences were delightfully caught off guard by his comedic skills.
This video from the upcoming DVD / Blu-ray release via Birth.Movies.Death features Statham’s co-stars talking about how hilarious he is, along with some pretty funny candid moments on set with the action star:
Spy also stars Jude Law, Bobby Cannavale, Allison Janney and Miranda Hart, and arrives on DVD and Blu-ray on September 29.
