Star Trek fans’ crushing uncertainty has at last come to an end, as CBS finally reveals a first look at Star Trek: Discovery. Ahead of the network's Upfront presentation, CBS reveals two members of the Discovery crew, and a very strange location.

The first photo takes place on an unidentified planet (shot in Jordan), featuring stars Sonequa Martin-Green as First Officer Michael Burnham, and Michelle Yeoh as Captain Philippa Georgiou. Note the classic communicator and tricorder on Burnham's belt:

Shooting primarily in Toronto, the new 13-episode Star Trek: Discovery is said to take place 10 years before Kirk’s original Enterprise mission, as well to be “heavily serialized.” The new series will also explore the fallout of an event referenced, but never seen in the original series. Wrath of Khan director Nicholas Meyer has also joined the creative side along with Gene Roddenberry’s son Rod, fan-favorite Voyager novel alum Kirsten Beyer, franchise vet Joe Menosky and Heroes writer Aron Coleite.

Star Trek: Discovery will beam out additional information soon, but watch the production teaser below while we wait.
