It feels like J.J. Abrams and company are going to keep playing footsies with the "is he or isn't he Khan" in regards to Star Trek Into Darkness's villain (played by Benedict Cumberbatch), but they did let out some details about the film and its cast today at their first big press event for the summer film, including a real connection to 'Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan.'

Today, it was revealed that Alice Eve is playing Carol Marcus, who in 'Wrath of Khan' was revealed to be one of Captain James T. Kirk's lovers, and that the two had a child, David Marcus. It's also worth pointing out that character never made an appearance in the original TV show. Of course, with the new movies' alternate timeline, this could just be a red herring, as there's no reason to assume she and Kirk will get to babymaking in the new timeline. But the film now seems confirmed to play with them having some sort of relationship.

The other big thing? Klingons. They're in the movie, as is their homeworld Quo'nos. As we learned all about this from Silas Lesnick's Twitter feed, he points out that there are fourteen Klingons in the movie, though only two with speaking roles. Abrams flirted with featuring Klingons in his first 'Star Trek' film, but cut them out, wisely, as you can see in the scene below:
