Tonight's MTV Movie Awards offered new trailers and footage from several upcoming Summer movies and among them was short new trailer JJ Abrams' 'Star Trek Into Darkness.' In the mood for big sci-fi action? Then this looks like the film for you.

Although we've seen plenty of the footage in this spot before, there are just enough new moments to make it worth watching, including what looks like a mid-air fight between Zachary Quinto's Spock and Benedict Cumberbatch's mystery villain. Although we've seen many of these moments in previous trailers, this spot emphasizes just how much action there is in this movie and just how absurdly huge it is.

Here''s the official synopsis for the film, which still remains cloaked in mystery:

In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness.

When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction.

As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.

'Star Trek Into Darkness' opens on May 17th.
