'Star Trek Into Darkness' will become less of a mystery starting this week as the first nine minutes of the film premieres with 'The Hobbit' in IMAX. And today we have a tease of those nine minutes, today we get a new 'Star Trek Into Darkness' pic that gives us another angle on that big tease at the end of the trailer. So who exactly is locked up in the Enterprise jail?

At the end of the 'Star Trek Into Darkness' Japanese trailer, we saw a quick shot that harkened back to 'Star Trek 2: The Wrath of Khan' where Kirk's hand touches Spock's hand through a plane of glass before Spock dies. That led many to believe that a) Khan was the villain in 'Star Trek Into Darkness' and b) Spock may die in this film. But alas, it was another J.J. Abrams trick!

Now we can see, via the new image below, that it wasn't Kirk touching Spock's hand but Spock touching the hand of...Cumber-villain!

So who is Benedict Cumberbatch playing in the film? The official caption released states:

(Left to right) Zachary Quinto is Spock, Benedict Cumberbatch is John Harrison and Chris Pine is Kirk in STAR TREK INTO DARKNESS from Paramount Pictures and Skydance Productions.

Uh, WHUT? He's not Khan or Gary Mitchell but "John Harrison?" Of course, this character name (which doesn't exist in the 'Star Trek' canon) is likely another red herring from J.J. Abrams to keep the real identity secret.

Of course, with one answer comes a million other questions. Why is he wearing a Starfleet uniform? How was he captured? What beef does he have with Kirk? Let's speculate on this and all the 'Star Trek Into Darkness' below!

UPDATE: Is there something hidden in this photo? Look at this zoom in of a peculiar pixelated block on Cumberbatch's right arm...
