‘Star Wars: Battlefront’ Trailer: Release Date, the Falcon and More
We have learned all kinds of juicy deets about the new, Force-fueled revival of the Battlefront series. Just before the release of this anticipated gameplay trailer, EA officially announced that Star Wars: Battlefront will be launching just a few weeks before the launch of Star Wars: The Force Awakens. Grab your laser rifle and shove a thermal detonator in your bag, because we're in a for a war.
The iconic battles between the Galactic Empire and Rebel Alliance will be in full force throughout Battlefront. The war aspect of these massive battles is paramount to Star Wars: Battlefront's overall experience. As a soldier, you'll see that AT-ATs tower over you, just as they did to Luke back on Hoth, but you'll see all kinds of chaotic combat going on around you as well. X- and Y-Wings will be engaging the Imperial Walkers in the sky with TIE Fighters in pursuit, and you'll be able to participate in it all. Even after you've taken out the AT-AT, slain dozens of Stormtroopers, saved the day and stopped the Empire, BOOM. Darth Vader arrives on the battlefield.
There will be a 40-player multiplayer mode called Walker Assault, which will likely take place in stages where AT-AT and AT-STs were featured throughout the movies. The trailer itself visits Endor, Hoth, Tatooine and Sullust. We should note there are lightsabers, laser blasts and even Boba Fett to be found in the trailer. Those who pre-order the game will be able to score the Battle of Jakku DLC (which will be free to download) a week before its widespread launch for everybody else. Jakku is the desert planet most people thought was Tattooine in The Force Awakens' trailers. This DLC will feature the junkyard planet, the crashed Star Destroyer and more. This DLC won't particularly spoil major portions of The Force Awakens, but will help bridge the gap between Episodes VI and VII.
EA has confirmed that Star Wars: Battlefront will be launching for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on Nov. 17. Star Wars: The Force Awakens will be packing theaters starting on Dec. 18. May the Force be with you as you try to nab pre-orders for both The Force Awakens' theater tickets and Battlefront.
And yes, you can fly the Millennium Falcon.
