Director J.J. Abrams and the cast and crew of 'Star Wars: Episode 7' have an uphill battle ahead of them as they launch the new trilogy in the 'Star Wars' franchise. How do you motivate your team when you're embarking on one of the biggest and riskiest cinematic ventures in recent history? Well, as filming began on Friday, J.J. Abrams wrote a note to inspire everyone working on the film (and, it might just get 'Star Wars' fans excited too).

If you're looking for 'Star Wars: Episode 7' scoops, there aren't any here (though it appears this mote was printed on one of the first pages of the script, as noted by the red paper and script supervisor Dawn Gilliam's watermark). Instead, we just get a quick note from Abrams himself to the 'Star Wars' team as they began filming last week. Here's a shot of the note, along with the copy if you're having trouble reading J.J.'s handwriting:

Dearest Cast and Crew, What an honor it is to work beside all of you, on Star Wars Ep VII. I can't thank you enough, for all work past and future. Let's take good care of not just ourselves, but of each other. Amazing, but true: the world awaits this film. Let's give 'em something GREAT. xo JJ

Now, most films at least start with this level of enthusiasm that they're going to make something great, and actually making something great is an entirely different story. But, like Abrams and crew, we want this film to be great as well. We can worry and speculate otherwise, but at the end of the day, nothing would make us happier than for 'Star Wars: Episode 7' to be fantastic. So, yes, J.J. and the cast and crew, we are awaiting this film and hope for greatness just as much as you.

'Star Wars: Episode 7' opens in theaters on December 18, 2015.
