Earlier this year, Marvel and Lucasfilm announced plans to continue the comic book legacy of 'Star Wars' with all-new series to debut in 2015. To kick off this new era, comic book aficionados will be able to relive the magic that was the original 'Star Wars' Marvel comics with the newly announced 'Star Wars: The Original Marvel Years.'

The first 'Star Wars' comic book series debuted in 1977, and this original arc -- from issue #1-44 and even Annual #1 -- will be brought back in an over-sized Omnibus format.

“With 'Star Wars' poised to return to its comic book home, what better time to revisit the first adventures of Luke, Leia, Han, Chewbacca, C-3PO, R2-D2, and, of course, Darth Vader?” said Marvel Editor-in-Chief Axel Alonso of the announcement. “I am extremely proud to present these original 'Star Wars' stories, told as only Marvel can, in the first in a massive and glorious Omnibus series.”

The opening volume will begin with 'Star Wars: Episode 4' and end with 'Star Wars: Episode 5,' while featuring Luke's return to Tatooine, Princess Leia ridin' solo, the pirate Crimson Jack, and more! Plus, each copy of this collection will also be wrapped in cover art designed by artists Howard Chaykin and Greg Hilderbrandt.
