Even with the recent casting calls and a 2015 release date, 'Star Wars' fans have almost no idea what direction the franchise will take when J.J. Abrams assumes control to deliver 'Episodes 7.' Vaguer still, we've only precious few ideas where the animated arm of the franchise will go with the 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' replacement, 'Star Wars Rebels,' but what does the latest information about the cast say?

According to Bleeding Cool, 'Star Wars Rebels' will understandably skew toward a younger crowd in primarily featuring teenage characters among the cast. Rebel-lious teenagers, you ask? Oh my, yes. As for whether or not any franchise vets would lend their voices to the new series as a form of synergy, BC points out that Celebration Star Wars-con in Messe Essen next month will feature Mark Hamill as a guest, which ComingSoon took to mean Hamill might have something to do with the series.

One thing is for sure, however, former 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' supervising director and 'Star Wars Rebels' head Dave Filoni will be present at the event to show off concept sketches for the show.

While details of the plot have been kept somewhat under wraps, we know that ‘Star Wars Rebels’ will take place “in a time where the Empire is securing its grip on the galaxy and hunting down the last of the Jedi Knights as a fledgling rebellion against the Empire is taking shape.” Taking over the creative side are that of screenwriter and producer Simon Kinberg (‘X-Men: First Class,’ ‘Elysium‘), who's writing the first episode, as well as Filoni and ‘Young Justice’ producer Greg Weisman.
