Half the fun of Star Wars Rebels lies not just in original Star Wars characters returning, but also those of spiritual predecessor The Clone Wars. So it is, that Katee Sackhoff will reprise her role as the Mandalorian Bo-Katan for Star Wars Rebels Season 3.

Sackhoff herself revealed the news at Australia’s Sydney Comic-Con (h/t Collider, Jedi News UK), albeit without specifying when in the season we might see Bo-Katan again. Sackoff originally appeared in The Clone Wars as a Mandalorian warrior and sister to Obi-Wan ally Duchess Satine, one who became deeply embedded in the conflict for Mandalorian leadership.

Bo-Katan playing into Sabine’s arc this season would make a good deal of sense (we did see her with the darksaber), but in the meantime, so reads the Season 3 synopsis:

Having established a secret base on Atollon, the Ghost crew, now led by a more powerful Ezra, strengthens the rebel fleet by acquiring new resources and recruits eager to stand against the Empire. However, the Imperial efforts to eliminate the rebellion are now being led by the coldly analytical Grand Admiral Thrawn, whose strategic, tactical and cultural insights make him a threat unlike any they have faced before. In season three, Ezra and Sabine take on new roles and challenges as the rebels prepare for their biggest mission yet – a direct assault on the Empire.

Elsewhere of Star Wars Rebels, new episodes will take a little trip through time to age up Ezra into a young Jedi teetering on the edge of light and dark. And while Darth Vader may not be so visible this time out (ditto for Ahsoka), Season 3 will more than make up for it with the introduction of Lars Mikkelsen (Rogue One star Mads’ brother) as Grand Admiral Thrawn, who returns to Star Wars canon after Disney’s acquisition of the franchise.

Season 3 will premiere a full hour on September 24, so stay tuned for the latest on Star Wars Rebels in the meantime.
