May the 4th be with you! As promised, the full trailer for 'Star Wars Rebels' has arrived online today in honor of "Star Wars Day." The full 60-second trailer delightfully expands upon what we've seen already, with the crew of the "Ghost" eager to strike up a rebellion against the nefarious Empire.
In the above trailer, we see our heroes in engaged in all sorts of action, from rapid-fire stand-offs to starship chases and encounters with Stormtroopers, all with the help of their trusty droid sidekick, Chopper. The crew is led by “Ghost” pilot Hera (Vanessa Marshall), and her team includes the brutish and brilliant Zeb (Steve Blum), the spunky Mandalorian Sabine (Tiya Sircar), "cowboy Jedi” Kanan (Freddie Prinze Jr.), and the Luke Skywalker-esque Ezra Bridger (Noah Taylor).
We already know that the show picks up where the canceled 'Clone Wars' series left off, though it's unclear if Obi-wan Kenobi will be making a return. Producer and screenwriter Simon Kinberg ('X-Men: First Class,' 'Elysium'), is behind the series and wrote the first episode, which will debut as an hour-long special on Disney XD before recurring as a regular series. The official synopsis:
‘Star Wars Rebels’ continues the epic tradition of the legendary ‘Star Wars’ saga with all-new exciting, action-packed adventures. It is a dark time in the galaxy, as the evil Galactic Empire tightens its grip of power from world to world. As the series begins, Imperial forces have occupied a remote planet, ruling with an iron fist and ruining the lives of its people.
But there are a select few who are brave enough to stand up against the endless Stormtroopers and TIE fighters of the Empire: the clever and motley crew of the starship “Ghost.” Together, this ragtag group will face threatening new villains, have thrilling adventures, and become heroes.
The one-hour special will make its debut this fall, so keep an eye out here for specifics.
