Have you always wanted to share the games you've purchased on Steam with friends and family? Thanks to Steam Family Sharing, that's something you'll soon be able to do.

On Wednesday, Steam announced its Family Sharing plan, allows a single Steam user to approve up to ten other devices where his or her account can be accessed by another player. That new player can earn their own achievements and have their own saved games on a range of titles available through the digital distribution service.

"Our customers have expressed a desire to share their digital games among friends and family members, just as current retail games, books, DVDs, and other physical media can be shared," explained Anna Sweet of Valve. "Family Sharing was created in direct response to these user requests."

Games cannot be played simultaneously, so you won't be able to get a multiplayer night going in Team Fortress 2 with just one account. Additionally, there are some titles that won't work with Family Sharing, particularly in the case of games which require a third-party key to access. However, you will be able to play and enjoy any downloaded DLC, though the non-proprietary user, you won't be able to purchase DLC for a shared title.

You can sign up for the beta right over here, and start enjoying the benefits with your closest friends and family almost immediately.
