Asked to recall the most endearing pair of The People v. O.J. Simpson, what would you say? Certainly not John Travolta and Courtney B. Vance, or David Schwimmer and a glass of juice, but Sarah Paulson and Sterling K. Brown’s Marcia Clark and Chris Darden. Ryan Murphy may yet get those two crazy kids together, as Brown is reportedly in for the second, Katrina-focused season.

Where Murphy had previously confirmed Sarah Paulson would be back for the second season – eyed to begin production in 2017 – the creator tells E! News that Brown is nearly signed on as well:

I’m talking to both [Sarah and Sterling] about being in Katrina and I know they’re both very interested. We haven’t gotten to the point where we’ve told the actors who they play on [Katrina: American Crime Story], but that day is soon coming. I want to see, I think, Sterling and Sarah together. They are just tremendous together so, yes, I root for that as well.

Certainly Murphy’s account of the Marcia Clark-Chris Darden highlighted the chemistry moreso than we’ll ever know of the real events, though Darden himself has more than indulged speculation of their real-life relationship. Pairing Emmy-winners Paulson and Brown for Season 2 would be a natural fit, and a fine addition to my conspiracy board of all American Crime stories taking place in the same universe.

We’ll find out soon (casting is apparently already underway on Season 3), but what other O.J. returns should we hope for Katrina?
