The man is unstoppable. After his starring turns in American Crime Story: The People v. O.J. Simpson and This Is Us, Sterling K. Brown was cast in Marvel’s Black Panther as an entirely new character. Now, he’s currently in talks to join another franchise: Shane Black’s The Predator.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brown is in negotiations to join the impressive cast that already includes Narcos star Boyd Holbrook, Olivia Munn, Moonlight’s Trevante Rhodes, and Keegan-Michael Key. THR’s description of Brown’s potential role reads thusly: “Brown will play a government agent who jails Holbrook’s ex-Marine character, but later needs his help with the Predators.”

So we’re going to have more than one Predator, it seems. which is odd because the movie’s title is simply “The Predator,” singular. Maybe it’s referring to one queen predator, like in Aliens, attended by a bunch of smaller baby Predators whose lethal hunting instinct is not at all lessened by their overwhelming cuteness. That’s about all we know of the plot at this point, besides the fact that Rhodes and Key are also ex-Marines and Munn is playing a scientist.

It’ll be a busy year for Brown if he’s cast in this alongside Black Panther, as both films are scheduled to open in theaters within a couple weeks of each other. He also has his eye on the John Stewart character in Warner Bros. Green Lantern Corps movie, which is currently casting around for Hal Jordans, so by this time twelve months from now, we could be calling 2018 The Year of Sterling.
