After switching from Sony to Universal, the formerly troubled Steve Jobs biopic continues to build its cast lineup. Kate Winslet has been in negotiations to join the cast as the female lead, but she’s no longer alone—following her fantastic breakthrough performance in ‘Inherent Vice,’ Katherine Waterston (yes, daughter of actor Sam Waterston) has been tapped to star in the Jobs film alongside Michael Fassbender and Seth Rogen.

THR reports that Waterston, who recently played Joaquin Phoenix’s ex in ‘Inherent Vice,’ has joined the cast of the Jobs film as Chrisann Brennan, Jobs’ high school girlfriend and longtime significant other, who is also the mother of one of his children. Boyle is directing from a script by Aaron Sorkin, which in turn is based on the book ‘Steve Jobs’ by Walter Isaacson.

It’s been a bumpy road to production on the Jobs film, which stars Michael Fassbender in the role of iconic Apple CEO Steve Jobs in the new movie from director Danny Boyle. The film also stars Seth Rogen as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak, and Jeff Daniels has been in talks to play former Apple CEO John Sculley, and ‘Boardwalk Empire’ star Michael Stuhlbarg has been cast as Andy Hertzfeld, the computer inventor who originally helped develop the Mac operating system with the Apple team. Details on Winslet’s role still remain unknown, but she might be playing Jobs’ widow, Laurene Powell Jobs.

The film is set to (finally) begin production next year.
