New 'Supernatural' Season 8 Photo Serves Up First Look At Dean's Vampire Pal

'Supernatural' fans have it pretty tough, having to wait all the way until October 3 for the first taste of season 8.  Season 7's 'Survival of the Fittest' certainly left things between Dean and Sam on quite a cliffhanger, and while the bad-ass new trailer we saw last week certainly kicked things up a notch, a few questions still remain.  Just how did Dean get himself out of Purgatory, and what bloodthirsty folk might have helped him do it?

Complimenting this past week's all-new 'Supernatural' season 8 trailer, a new photo from the forthcoming season made its way online, and boy does it look rough on Dean Winchester.  The elder Winchester brother is seen still in Purgatory (to be revealed in flashback throughout the season), bloodied and battle hardened, as a figure looks on in the background.

But who is this mysterious fellow?  Sources say it to be Ty Olsson ('Battlestar Galactica')'s vampire character "Benny," who befriends Dean during his time in Purgatory, and ultimately helps him escape.  Given what we know of Dean's distaste for supernatural creatures, will that act spare Benny's like, or will Benny too escape back to Earth to wreak havoc?

Additionally, ‘Supernatural’ season 8 will see the return of DJ Qualls’ eccentric  hunter Garth, as well as ‘Futurama’ voice Lauren Tom.  Liane Balaban (‘Alphas,’ ‘Covert Affairs’) will appear as Sam’s new love interest Amelia, developed in the time the brothers spent separated.

Check out the photo of Dean and his new friend below, and tell us what you expect from 'Supernatural' season 8 in the comments!
