This past week we've had the 'Walking Dead' season 5 trailer to obsessively pore over until its October premiere, but what if we can only wait until September? See what Syfy comes up with in the first trailer for its own take on the zombie genre, as the outbreak of 'Z Nation' hits this September!

The brief spot for Syfy's new undead drama debuted during last night's 'Sharknado 2: The Second One,' and already seems a bit familiar in its plot to transport the key to winning the zombie war across country. Set for a September debut, the13-episode ‘Z Nation’ from ‘Sharknado‘ producers The Asylum will pick up three years after the zombie apocalypse hits America. Only one survivor of the actual plague lives, while others attempt to transport him to a lab across the country where his blood may be able to create a vaccine.

'Constantine' star Harold Perrineau plays Hammond, the leader of the group headed west, while Tom Everett Scott portrays Garnett, Hammond’s second-in-command, and 'Supernatural' star DJ Qualls takes the role of Citizen Z, a computer hacker who helps the team navigate the zombie-infested landscape. 'Twilight''s Michael Welch and Kellita Smith will portray Mack and Addy, two wanderers drawn to the team and to each other by goals of survival.

Also present among the cast are Anastasia Baranova, Russell Hodgkinson and Keith Allan. Karl Schaefer serves as executive producer and showrunner, while John Hyams directed the pilot.

Well, what are you waiting for? Kick off Syfy's zombie apocalypse early with our first look at 'Z Nation' above, and tell us if you'll shamble out for the premiere this September!
