2013 Emmy Awards
The 2013 Emmy nominations have arrived and at first glance, it's more of the same. Of course 'Breaking Bad,' 'Mad Men,' 'Homeland' and 'Downton Abbey' seem to be dominating the drama category! Of course '30 Rock,' 'Louie' and 'Veep' are contenders in the comedy category! However, the big surprise with this year's nominations is that one of the most nominated shows wasn't even on TV at all.
The Upfronts may have passed us by with all of the major networks unveiling their 2013-14 lineups, but CBS has jumped ahead in the 2013 race by releasing its full fall premiere schedule. The new CBS lineup will premiere after the 2013 Emmy awards, kicking off with an hour-long final season premiere for 'How I Met Your Mother,' and a host of other changes.
Despite the fact that HBO's 'Girls' lost most of its Emmy-nominated categories at the 2012 Emmy Awards, the producers of long-running FOX animation staple 'Family Guy' believe they've finally found their way to consideration. The latest controversial 'Family Guy' submission takes aim at the critically debated HBO series, and they might have something of a mess on their hands. Among other places.
For as much as we loved late-night host and Hollywood personality Jimmy Kimmel's turn hosting the 2012 Emmy Awards, the newest host for 2013's award ceremony is hardly a step down. 'How I Met Your Mother' star Neil Patrick Harris will host the CBS award ceremony for a second year, months after his turn hosting the 2013 Tony Awards, but can NPH dazzle us a second time?
