We don't know about you, but after yesterday's new 'Captain America 2' Super Bowl trailer, this sequel catapulted to the top of our most anticipated films of 2014 list. Like 'Thor 2' and 'Iron Man 3,' the latest adventure of Marvel's patriotic hero looks to take the groundwork established by previous films and take everything to a truly exciting and fresh place.
A new batch of images from the film have made their way online, showcasing the film's large cast of heroes and villains.
UPDATE: Added the full 'Captain America 2' Super Bowl trailer above!
The 'Captain America 2' Super Bowl trailer will air in its entirety during the big game this Sunday, February 2, but before we see it in action, Marvel released a preview of the coming footage and two new posters that unite the cast of 'The Winter Soldier.'
Adding to our already hefty bank of 'Captain America 2' photos and footages comes a fresh batch of images from Marvel's ambitious next installment. Why is it ambitious? Not only will the sequel (officially titled 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier') introduce comic book hero The Falcon through actor Anthony Mackie among a slew of new and returning characters, but it's also Marvel's attempt to revamp the superhero genre.
Now that we're officially cemented in 2014 and 'Thor: The Dark World' has successfully made the theatrical rounds, Marvel Studios can know focus its attention on 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier.' To go with our previous looks at the next standalone mission for Chris Evans' Steve Rogers, the studio has released a handful of new photos showing off our heroes and one of the villains to come.
It's always interesting to see what the year's crop of Oscar hopefuls follow-up their buzzworthy performances with. For Forest Whitaker, it's the horror-thriller 'Repentance' with 'Captain America 2' star Anthony Mackie, and you can get a taste of the crazy to come with the first trailer.
“What can't Justin Timberlake do?” said the internet after the performer dominated 2013 with the release of two albums, a musical turn in Cannes favorite 'Inside Llewyn Davis,' and a handful of Jimmy Fallon late-night sketches that all went viral. 'Runner Runner' suggests there's really one thing: convince us he's anyone but Timberlake.
'Lincoln Lawyer' director Brad Furman directs the middling thriller, another gambling-infused escapade from 'Rounders' writers Brian Koppelman and David Levien that packs the integrity of their previous efforts without any spark. The writing duo can talk the poker talk, this time immersing their script in the seedy world of online betting. Their leading man can't keep up.
'Captain America 2' is already well into production, made apparent by the numerous set photos of Scarlett Johansson's Black Widow kicking ass and Anthony Mackie's Falcon flying high. We still have yet to see pics of its other all-star cast, including Robert Redford, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Emily VanCamp and more. But, based on some plot details revealed by the Falcon himself, we imagine it'll look something like what we'll get in 'The Avengers 2.'
When 'Captain America 2' added Anthony Mackie to the cast to star as Falcon, we were a little surprised. He is, after all, a character that has a psychic link with all birds and flies around with wings. We were very curious to see how Marvel was going to pull off this character and now, as filming continues in Los Angeles, we get our first look at Falcon in action. And...he doesn't look that bad.
Flexing its way into theaters in a few weeks is Michael Bay's 'Pain and Gain,' an action-comedy about meatheads whose dreams are significantly bigger than their brains. A new poster for the film has appeared online accompanied by a slew of pics, and of course it's dominated by Dwayne Johnson's pecs. How could it not be?
