FOX’s pre-Batman era origin story ‘Gotham’ remains as divisive a series as ever. On the one hand, legions of fans remind us each week to give the prequel drama time to breathe, yet howls of laughter can be heard from the same corners when ‘Gotham’ makes yet another attempt to set up characters it can’t rightly use for decades to come. Enter the latest effort, as ‘Gotham’ producers confirm Robin’s “prenatal origin story” is on the way! Yeesh.

We’ve seen Batman envisioned time and again on screens big and small, and yet it took a tiny LEGO version of the character to take us by surprise with Phil Lord and Chris Miller’s hilarious take on the character in this year’s ‘The LEGO Movie.’ Voiced by Will Arnett, this version of Batman lovingly satirized the Caped Crusader. The character was such a hit that we’re getting a spinoff in 2017 ahead of the ‘LEGO Movie’ sequel, and the writers have dropped some details about what we can expect.
FOX’s ‘Gotham’ detects its ninth installment in “Harvey Dent,” as Gordon turns to the city’s trustworthy ADA (Nicholas D’Agosto) for help solving the Wayne murders, while Bruce and Alfred take in Selina Kyle as a witness to the crime, and Penguin unravel’s Fish Mooney’s plot against Falcone.
The last time Christopher Nolan released a movie, film critics got death threats. That was back in 2012, when Nolan released ‘The Dark Knight Rises,’ and the first writers who dared to stray from the positive consensus about the film received waves of overwhelming backlash. After Marshall Fine published his pan, his site and his page on Rotten Tomatoes were both bombarded with angry comments politely requesting he “die in a fire” and hoping someone would beat him into a coma with a “thick rubber hose.”
It's just not a movie featuring Bruce Wayne/Batman unless you have the death of Bruce Wayne's parents, thus explaining his mopey origins, is it? Zack Snyder would agree, and so would some new set photos from 'Batman vs. Superman,' which confirm that we will see Thomas and Martha Wayne shot to death yet again, just in case you're not sick of seeing that happen. Seriously? Again? Again-again-again?
That's the kind of aesthetic that produced Harley Quinn, and it's worth noting that she was created almost by accident. When she first appears in "Joker's Favor," it's as a one-note joke, a gag character designed to set up the twist of the episode, that the Joker hounds and stalks and threatens this poor nobody over the course of years so that he can open a door as part of a larger scheme. Keep that in mind, too, because the secret of that episode is that it's also Harley Quinn's entire story in miniature.
This past week's latest 'Gotham' installment slipped in some subtle Batman references to the Dark Knight's inevitable rogues gallery, but next week's "Harvey Dent" faces its DC future head-on. See 'Masters of Sex' star Nicholas D'Agosto debut as 'Gotham''s white knight Harvey Dent in a new clip, and learn what future Robins might have to offer in FOX's comic prequel!
FOX’s ‘Gotham’ detects its eighth installment in “The Mask,” as Gordon's strained relationship with his fellow cops jeopardizes his investigation of a corrupt financier, while Bruce returns to school and Fish and Penguin conspire against one another.
First there was Chibatman, the Batman impersonator who rides around Japan on a replica of the Batpod from 'The Dark Knight.' Now there's Australian Batman Zac Mihajlovic, who rides around in a customized Batmobile built to replicate the one from Tim Burton's 1989 'Batman' film -- but this isn't just any Batmobile replica or any Batman impersonator. This vehicle is perfectly street-legal, and this Batman uses his persona to spread cheer to sick kids.
A few weeks back, we heard that Ryan Gosling went in to meet about a possible role in WB's 'Suicide Squad' film, but it wasn't clear which role that might have been, as details about which characters might be featured in the movie are still a mystery. According to the latest report, Jared Leto is now up for that role -- and that role could very well be The Joker, Batman's longtime nemesis.
