Sad as we are to see HBO's 'Boardwalk Empire' brought to a close by its fifth and final season, the time-jump to 1931 will bring with it significant plot advancements, and new challenges for Nucky Thompson. Now, with the final season premiere set for September 7, a new synopsis of the season and its first four episodes brings with it some major spoilers.

HBO's 'Boardwalk Empire' will start to pour its last in just a few weeks time, premiering a fifth and final season that jumps into the future of Prohibition-era Atlantic City. We've gone behind-the-scenes and seen a few brief teasers, but at last 'Boardwalk Empire' has set the scene for its big goodbye with a full trailer that promises plenty of action, and change to come.

Distraught though we were to learn that HBO's gangster drama 'Boardwalk Empire' would close up shop after only five seasons, everything we've heard of Nucky's final bow to date has us more and more excited. Now, the fifth and final year of 'Boardwalk Empire' has an official September premiere, accompanied by both good and bad news for fans of the drama.

HBO has long been a thorn in the side of streaming media enthusiasts, only licensing its content to be accessed through HBO GO, unlike the Netflix and Amazon Prime models that have become so commonplace in recent years. Now, the pay-cable network struck a surprising Amazon Prime deal to deliver streams of a variety of shows past and present, but don't expect to start that 'Game of Thrones' marathon just yet.
