Director interviews are often quite interesting, but as it turns out, it takes a director to really get his (or her) fellow directors to open up. Spectre director Sam Mendes chatted with Steven Spielberg, David Fincher, Edgar Wright and more of your favorites, asking some of the best questions — and getting some of the most revealing and delightful answers.

Many fans (including us) were very disappointed when Edgar Wright dropped out of Marvel’s Ant-Man. But, the silver lining is that Wright was suddenly available to write and direct a new, original film. That new film is Baby Driver, the upcoming musical-action film starring Ansel Elgort and Lily James. Michael Douglas was at one point also attached to the film, but has now been replaced Jamie Foxx, who is in talks to join the upcoming project.

The loss of Wes Craven is one that’s felt pretty heavily in the film community, and there’s been no shortage of fans, filmmakers and actors sharing their remembrances of the director and his influence on their lives and work. Director Edgar Wright is one such fan of the late Craven, and took to his website to share a thoughtful and moving look back at the filmmaker whose work affected so many.

You may have forgotten about Collider, the sci-fi film initially announced in 2012 with Edgar Wright attached to direct and J.J. Abrams producing. Since then, Wright departed Ant-Man and began prepping two new projects, including Baby Driver — but Collider has not been forgotten, and the project has just picked up a new writer to take a crack at the screenplay.

Sony went on a release date-spree earlier today, scheduling a ton of upcoming films for 2016 and 2017. In addition to Bad Boys 3 and Bad Boys 4, the studio also set a 2017 date for the first film in Stephen King’s Dark Tower franchise and announced dates for a handful of anticipated projects, like Edgar Wright’s latest, the Barbie movie, Underworld 5 and more.

Marvel is all about bigness. In the last couple years, the comic-book company turned Hollywood goliath has become become synonymous with a certain kind of blockbuster that’s so large it metastasizes beyond its own borders and crosses over into others. Marvel doesn’t make movies; they make universes. But you can paint yourself into a corner by perpetually topping yourself. At a certain point, how much bigger can you get?

It’s been a couple of years since we were delighted by The World’s End, but we’re finally getting another new movie from Edgar Wright: the curiously titled Baby Driver, with Divergent star Ansel Elgort in the leading role. Joining Elgort in the film is Lily James, star of this year’s surprisingly wonderful and enchanting live-action Cinderella.

In case you were not aware, there’s been a little dispute over at Marvel regarding the Ant-Man writing credits. Edgar Wright and Joe Cornish originally wrote the screenplay for the pint-sized superhero film, but once Wright departed the project, Adam McKay and Paul Rudd did a little rewriting. While Marvel intended to give Wright and Cornish “story by” credit only, the pair will now get a screenwriting credit following the results of their recent dispute.

It's futile to continue to talk about what could've been when it comes to Edgar Wright, Marvel and Ant-Man. For their own separate reasons, they parted ways, the film was rewritten by Adam McKay (Anchorman) and star Paul Rudd, and was eventually directed by Peyton Reed. And that may very well wind up being a great Ant-Man movie (the trailer certainly looked promising enough)! But, if we're to believe Avengers director Joss Whedon, Edgar Wright's Ant-Man could have been the best movie Marvel ever made.
