Jennifer Lawrence

Jennifer Lawrence is one of the most popular movie stars in the world. Her big break was three seasons on TBS’ ‘The Bill Engvall Show,’ but she first garnered attention as a serious actress in the indie drama ‘Winter’s Bone’ from 2010. The film netted Lawrence her first Oscar nomination; two years later she received another nomination and her first Academy Award for her work in David O. Russell’s ‘Silver Linings Playbook’ (a third nomination followed the next year for ‘American Hustle’). Her most famous roles though are in a pair of major Hollywood franchises: ‘X-Men,’ where she is the young version of the shapeshifting Mystique, and, of course, ‘The Hunger Games,’ where she plays reality star and revolutionary leader Katniss Everdeen.

Early Reactions to ‘mother!’ Tease Aronofsky’s ‘Masterpiece’
It’s difficult to know what to make of mother!, the latest thriller from Darren Aronofsky. The plot description sounds like a home invasion thriller, the posters pay homage to Rosemary’s Baby, and the trailers have led some to speculate that Aronofsky’s film could be anything from a vampire movie (yeah, right) to a sorta-remake of the aforementioned Roman Polanski classic. Whatever Aronofsky is up to, at least a couple of his famous friends loved it enough to share their reactions on Twitter last night following a private screening.

New Poster for ‘mother!’ Will Give You Double Vision
Another day, another mysterious poster advertising Darren Aronofsky’s mysterious mother! This one doesn’t seem to have any connotations towards any other classic horror films (unless I’m totally missing something), but it might provide a few clues as to what the movie is about? Or does it? Something tells me we won’t know what’s going on with this one until we’re actually in the theater seeing it.

Darren Aronofsky’s mother! is intriguing just for the very fact that we know next to nothing about it, besides who’s starring and a few quick glimpses of some trailer action. But the new poster for the movie (the latest in a slew of one-sheets, each more fascinating than the last) is our biggest clue yet as to what this movie will be about, and what other classic horror movie it was influenced by.

Emma Stone has come a long way from her La La Land character Mia’s humble barista origins: she’s now the highest-paid actress of this year, thanks mostly to last year’s Damien Chazelle film that rocketed her around the awards circuit last winter.

Darren Aronofsky’s mother! is an intriguing little beast. After two trailers, all we know is that it stars Jennifer Lawrence, Javier Bardem, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Ed Harris, and it involves a couple whose relationship is more than tested after they invite another pair of folks into their home. Aronofsky himself also isn’t too forthcoming, but said that he was so inspired when he got the idea for the movie that he churned out a draft in just a couple of days.

The latest trailer for mother! is arguably more effective than the first — hard to imagine after that initial and completely bonkers sneak peek, I know. But this one uses sound and dialogue to unnerving effect, and although doing more telling than showing seems counterintuitive, it’s a concept that works brilliantly in the second trailer for Darren Aronofsky’s new film, and his first since 2014’s Noah.

Jennifer Lawrence Goes Insane in First Full ‘mother!‘ Trailer
There’s a whole lot to talk through in the newly released trailer for Darren Aronofsky’s psycho-horror fever dream mother!, but first things first: when will casting directors stop marring Jennifer Lawrence off to disproportionately older men? She was 17 years Christian Bale’s junior in American Hustle, 16 years younger than Silver Linings Playbook costar Bradley Cooper, and 14 years behind Joy’s Edgar Ramirez. Now, she trails newest romantic opposite Javier Bardem by a staggering 22 years. Is all of Hollywood under the impression that she’s Benjamin Buttoning, and secretly in her mid forties? We love to rag on Passengers (because it is not a good film, to be fair), but at least it gave Lawrence a boytoy slightly closer to her age range.
