Despite being released in many countries last year, director James Gray's 'The Immigrant' finally heads to North American theaters this summer. In case there are any doubts (and this movie has been floating around for long enough to generate those kinds of doubts), a new trailer arrived for your viewing pleasure.
Earlier today, we got our first look at the set of 'The Avengers 2' on location in Aosta, Italy, where Elizabeth Olsen, Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Jeremy Renner are filming some major action sequences for the highly anticipated 2015 film. Now, how would you like to get up close with Hawkeye and "The Twins" in these revealing new photos from the set?
'The Avengers 2' only recently begun filming, but images and footage from the set have already begun making their way online, in addition to the first concept art of what will become newcomers Scarlet Witch and Quicksilver. If you're 100% spoilerphobic, you'll want to stop here, but if you're ravenous for any tidbits about Marvel's upcoming epic, today is your lucky day.
Critics may debate whether 'American Hustle' is good or great (and they are), but one thing even the toughest critic of David O. Russell's 70s crime epic can agree on: the performances are outstanding. Across the board, the likes of Christian Bale, Amy Adams, Bradley Cooper, Jennifer Lawrence, Jeremy Renner and even Louis CK deliver some of their best work; work that is sure to be recognized this Oscar season.
There is so much hair in 'American Hustle.'
Christian Bale's disastrous comb-over/rug combo basically opens the film with a wordless monologue. Beneath that unnatural mop is the sharp mind of Irving Rosenfeld, a “from the feet up” con man making the leap from running legit (but boring) dry cleaning businesses to grifting down-on-their-luck rubes on bad bank loans. His operation starts taking off when he hooks up with Amy Adams, a natural businesswoman looking to reinvent herself. She does this with a name change, a phony British accent and, later in the film, by frizzing her hair out to preposterous proportions.
Just when we thought 2015 couldn't be more tightly packed with big-time blockbusters, Universal Studios goes and sets the next 'Bourne' movie for release that August.
If you're looking for an incredible story to tell, look no further than 1920s United States. As the new trailer for James Gray's 'The Immigrant' makes abundantly clear, few time periods have been so complex, so strange and so simultaneously beautiful and ugly. Although it played the Cannes Film Festival earlier this year, this project has been laying pretty low. However, now that we've seen the slightly NSFW French trailer, we can't wait to see the final film.
The latest 'American Hustle' trailer has debuted on Yahoo Movies, and Sony is revving up its marketing campaign to position this to score more Oscar nominations for director David O. Russell. What'd you think? Does Russell and his all-star cast have enough juice to sweep awards season? The film seems a shoe-in for best bad hair, that's for sure.
