Though 2012's awards season has only recently come to an end, that doesn't mean filmmakers and studios aren't already plotting 2013's Oscar campaign. And it looks like David O. Russell wants to win a little gold statue as -- for the third time in four years -- he's got a new film scheduled to come out at the end of the year.

'Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters' Review

'Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters' is so close to being a parody of stupid action movies I'm inclined to believe that at some point in its development that's exactly what it was. It was written and directed by Tommy Wirkola, whose previous claim to fame was a horror comedy about Nazi zombies, and produced by Adam McKay and Will Ferrell, whose Gary Sanchez Productions only makes comedies. The premise -- Hansel and Gretel survive their famous fairy tale encounter with a witch and grow up to be badass supernatural bounty hunters -- is so ludicrous it sounds like a 'Saturday Night Live' sketch (imagine Ferrell and Amy Poehler in the title roles). It just makes more sense that this was intended as a comedy, and that at some point, someone in a position of power decided it was a safer financial bet to minimize the humor and play the thing straight as an arrow fired from a Gretel's semiautomatic crossbow. The result: a movie that's a joke, instead of a comedy.

'The Avengers' might have been the biggest movie of 2013 (and one of the biggest movies of all-time) but Jeremy Renner is already hoping for more from 'The Avengers 2.' The actor, who's out promoting 'Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters,' admits he was disappointed with his role in the first 'Avengers' movie and is hoping for more out of 'Avengers 2.'

'SNL' Deleted Scenes: Jeremy Renner Has a Shirtless Thanksgiving

by Kevin Fitzpatrick November 20, 2012 @ 10:00 AM
Though Jeremy Renner's turn hosting 'SNL' this past weekend may have felt somewhat uneven, many would argue that the normally-stoic 'Avengers' star still did a better job than other hosts unprepared for sketch comedy, like Daniel Craig, or even to a degree Louis C.K. And while Renner wasn't present for the Guy Fieri deleted scene that exploded in popularity yesterday, another 'SNL' deleted scene is making the rounds that might have seen Renner at his best! Check out what didn't make the cut!

SNL: Jeremy Renner VS Jason Sudeikis on a Movie Set

by Jacob Hall November 18, 2012 @ 11:34 AM
There's an interesting phenomenon unique to Saturday Night Live: they can book the biggest stars in the world, but sometimes those big stars end up essentially being used as glorified props. Of course, this is only the case when the star in question doesn't prove adept at live comedy and Jeremy Renner more than fit that bill. When that happens, you see sketches like this one, where the star does very little while a SNL veteran (in this case, Jason Sudeikis) gets to drive the scene.

SNL: Jeremy Renner is in a Stand Off

by Jacob Hall November 18, 2012 @ 11:09 AM
If there's one thing the latest episode of Saturday Night Live proved, it was that Jeremy Renner does not have a bright future in the world of sketch comedy. However, it did prove that Renner has no problem parodying his tough guy action persona. One of the highlights of the episode was a video sketch that followed three guys who take their violent stand off a few steps too far.

SNL Takes on 'The Avengers'

by Jacob Hall November 18, 2012 @ 10:44 AM
When it was announced that Jeremy Renner was going to guest host Saturday Night Live, there was only one guarantee: there was going to an 'Avengers' sketch. After all, why waste the presence of one of Marvel's mightiest heroes? And more importantly, why waste the opportunity to make fun of Hawkeye, the Avenger who's only power is being really good with a bow and arrow?
