It feels like forever and a day we’ve been dividing ships of one dystopian and/or supernatural couple or another, but certainly Joss Whedon deserves credit for Buffy the Vampire Slayer cementing the trend. Over a decade later, fans are still torn over which en-souled vampire marks Buffy’s one true love, but Joss Whedon has formally made his choice. Sound the alarm, and get out your stakes.

Joss Whedon may have disappeared from social media (for a time), but the Avengers director and TV icon is back in more ways than one. Not only is Whedon back on Twitter, but he’s working on a new horror film set during World War II, and — despite his self-admitted exhaustion from working with Marvel — he’s ready to direct another big franchise film. Ideally, he wants to make one of those big Star Wars movies.

Joss Whedon is open about his politics, never one to shy away from letting us all know whom he supports for this upcoming election. Just last week, he and a few of his Avenger pals posted a PSA to launch his new organization Save the Day, urging Americans to make sure they’re registered to vote. On Friday, Whedon also hosted a Facebook Live chat to promote Save the Day, in which he answered some fan questions, including which of the Avengers he’d pick to run the country.

Joss Whedon quit Twitter back in 2015 after he decided that the social media platform’s pervasive negativity, anger, and outright hatred was too toxic to endure. (Where could he possibly get that idea from?) But this morning, like a phoenix or vampire slayer rising from the ashes, Whedon returned to Twitter with a new handle, and a new project: A get-out-the-vote campaign called Save the Day.

You probably know that Joss Whedon’s production company is named Mutant Enemy. But did you know where the name comes from? Recent rumors have suggested that Joss Whedon himself might direct the two-part musical extravaganza, with Neil Patrick Harris to boot, but is there any truth to them?

Since stepping away from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Joss Whedon has been pretty upfront about how anxious and exhausted the entire experience left him. Even as recently as a few weeks ago, Whedon was still coming to terms with the failure he felt after Avengers: Age of Ultron opened to backlash from fans. With Marvel bringing in new talent and taking its films into different directions, it seemed the door had closed on Whedon and Marvel ever working again.

The first Avengers film was such a success, Joss Whedon originally didn’t want to come back to direct a sequel. How could you top a movie that became one of the biggest movies of all-time? Eventually Marvel and a lot of money were able to convince Whedon to return, but after the film was released in theaters, he quickly regretted that decision...

A ways back, Avengers director and ex-Marvel mainstay Joss Whedon seemed to cast shade at ABC’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. over Coulson’s resurrection, despite he himself directing the pilot, noting that movies would consider the character dead. Now, Whedon clarifies his comments, denying he regrets keeping Clark Gregg in his badass role, even as Marvel TV tends to get the movies’ “leftovers.”
